3D Visualizers to improve shop floor management

New applications in the field of 3D visualizers. 3DVisualizr is a 3D visualization tool developed by Elisa IndustrIQ,  partner and stakeholder of sedApta, to create meaningful and inspiring 3D experiences for IoT manufacturing applications and workflows. It enables industrial automation customers to create 3D-based applications to increase usability and user acceptance by creating an easy-to-use entry point to access and manage relevant data and information from the manufacturing process.

The tool combines an established 3D editor and rendering engine that allow customers to build 3D views of their production environments. The application can be enriched with data labels – to show the status of the machine in real time, dynamic objects – for «Track & Trace» implementations, and Heatmaps – to color 3D objects according to their status.

The engine is 100% cloud native, which means that all renderings are available through the cloud and therefore accessible from anywhere, and is based on the “pay-as-you-go” concept, allowing customers to expand as their visualization needs change, and it is extremely flexible because it easily integrates with web-based visualization platforms (PTC Thingworx, Microsoft BI, Grafana, etc).

Reproduce your 3D production environment

The 3DVisualizr features a cloud-based WYSIWYG editor, to create 3D scenarios that represent the factory environments with the specific elements of the production department.

Users can select an “object” from the resource library (containing 3D models and objects) to create these three-dimensional scenes. If customers have his own models created by CAD application, they can extend the library by uploading them to the portal and use them right away.

Visualize your 3D production environment

The built-in 3D engine retrieves the 3D scene that was created and renders it. This includes so-called data labels which allow to visualize a wide range of data, information and contexts relating to machines, production lines or shop floor areas.

Data labels can contain KPIs, parameter data, text elements, and buttons. The engine has a built-in Heatmap feature, which allows customers to easily colour 3D objects according to their state, and provides a wide range of UI options, useful for optimizing the presentation of information.

    Integration with the sedApta suite

    The integration between the sedApta Suite and the 3DVisualizr can be achieved through the Notification Engine module.

    The Notification Engine is a module of the Shop Floor Monitor used as a support tool for monitoring production processes. In particular, the Notification Engine is an event server that performs certain actions such as delivering messages to users and evaluating incoming events in such a way as to address them to interested users.

    This module allows the synchronization between the 3DVisualizr and the MES to notify the events in the production process. In accordance with the definition of the KPIs for the production lines, of data and information associated with each component of the factory environment, the 3DVisualizr shows the critical events to users, immediately, associating them with the specific element, thanks to the three-dimensional visualization.
